What is Systems Thinking

Systems Thinking is an approach to understanding complex problems by analyzing how elements interact within a whole system over time.

Key Principles

Interconnections: Focus on relationships, not isolated parts

Feedback loops: Actions create reinforcing or balancing effects

Dynamics over time: Systems evolve with delays and accumulations

Non-linearity: Small changes can lead to large impacts

Systems Thinking in SYNAPSE

SYNAPSE’s facilitators (Link to Join Us page) will identify and investigate community-level systemic challenges in each country: youth unemployment, digital exclusion, climate vulnerability, using the systems thinking tools learned. Each challenge will be documented through system mapping exercises and structured reflection that will play as a foundation for the youth-led discussions and project ideas.

Training Modules (link to Virtual Exchanges page) practical tools and easy-to-follow guides will soon be available to support your Systems Thinking journey. Watch this space for resources that simplify complex ideas into actionable insights.
